Why is cotton duck canvas used?
Cotton duck also known as sailcloth canvas, is very durable and is also flexible, it holds paint very well and with proper varnishing will hold up to many years of use and enjoyment.

What paints are used?
I work with water based non-toxic acrylic paints.
How do you finish the canvas?
Once dried, I put several coats of varnish. I allow each coat to cure before applying another quote of varnish. I also like to finish with a milk wax finish and buffing.
The edges of the floor cloth are folded, stitched and a non-skid pad is attached to prevent slipping. All these details and steps give you a beautiful finished product that is both durable and beautiful piece of functional art.

Protect Your Investment/Maintenance Advice
1. Clean up is easy with mild soap and water or a non-abrasive cleaner that will not leave a residue.
2. It is recommended that a coat of water-based varnish be applied after 2-3 years of use to protect the artwork and bring back the shine.
3. Floor cloths should not be left in standing water or in puddles as the fibers will absorb the liquid and ultimately result in wrinkling of the canvas and potential damage to artwork.
Recommendations to Prevent Slipping Accidents
Just like any mat, runner, or area rug, a non-skid waffle matting is advised. This type of matting can usually be found at most home improvement centers.
Larger cloths are installed using double-sided carpet tape; this prevents them from sliding as well as adding a protective barrier, which keeps dirt from collecting underneath.
